Nine Layers Deep Sign to Helmet Lady Records, Release New Song
In honor of this new partnership, Nine Layers Deep has released a new track, “Funeral,” which is taken off of their upcoming new album Sludge Life: I, to be released via Helmet Lady on April 20 (CD, Digital). The album will be available on vinyl in May.
Ominous riffs turn straight up menacing on Nine Layers Deep’s “Funeral,” after a literal wall of sound crashes down on the listener. From there, frontwoman Alaysa Dale, and her rather dulcet tones, takes hold, before they themselves cascade into something much more visceral, giving way to Jimmy McFarland’s sterling axework. Dale’s screams return soon after, as she barks ‘I know that pain inside / seen where you've gone to hide / and right between the two of us / it wasn't just you who died,’ before another solo from McFarland takes us home, and just like that, “Funeral” is laid to rest. Nine Layers Deep will also provide support for the almighty Clutch on March 18 at the Town Ballroom. You can find more about that show at https://www.facebook.com/events/349739545588914/.
