Brighter Than a Thousand Suns – “Rebirth”
Brighter Than a Thousand Suns pull zero punches on their
latest EP Rebirth; each blow landing
with more and more force on each passing track. Angelika Roswell emphatically
sets the album’s tone on opener “One Sided Soul,” a heavy, yet atmospheric
banger that immediately thrusts her vocal dexterity into the spotlight. Roswell
continues to flex her vocal muscle on the following “Warcry (Reborn),” transitioning
from gravelly barks to clean, lofty stanzas with pure ease, as Randy Roswell
provides her with a potent bed of churning riffs. “There Will Be Blood” marks
one of the best tracks BTATS has ever put to wax thanks to truly memorable hooks
and Rebirth comes full circle on the
closing “What’s Gone Is Gone,” which benefits from not only Randy’s forceful
six-string barrage, but also some well-placed synth touches. Picking up where
they left off on The Way Out,
Brighter Than a Thousand Suns continue to prove they are one of the best bands
in the underground today and one of the best bands you’re not listening to
right now. So what the hell are you waiting for? Rebirth is as good a jumping off point as you’ll find.
