As Sirens Fall – “Where Lost Things Go”
While As Sirens Fall won’t completely fill the void in
your life left by the hiatus of My Chemical Romance, these Yorkshire, UK
products go a long way to help scratch that itch with their latest EP Where Lost Things Go, an impressive, to
say the least, six song set.
Where Lost Things
Go is bookended by As Sirens Fall in full-on My Chemical Romance The Black Parade operatic post-hardcore
regalia (“Lily,” “She Runs With The Wolves”); massive hooks backed by frontman Mikey
Lord delivering memorable vocal refrain after memorable vocal refrain.
Skindred’s Benji Webbe is featured on “In My Mind,” adding a reggaeton vibe to
the mix, which makes for an incredible dynamic when paired with Lord.
As Sirens Fall take flight on standout “Like Vultures,” a
truly expansive entry that sees the band reaching new sonic heights, piloted by
an exceptional vocal performance from Lord, who morphs into Gerard Way on the
following “Getaway,” a sparkling piano-led ballad, that is, before guitarists
Adam Doveston and Richard Hadley take over for a rousing solo. The sense of
urgency returns to Where Lost Things Go
on “My Only Ghost,” a late reminder that this is a rock record after all.
There are so many glowing terms that could be used to
describe Where Lost Things Go, and
the afore mentioned impressive might just be an understatement.
