CD Review: Me Like Bees – “There Will Be Time”
Combining the eccentric pop of Weezer and the indie rock sensibilities of Modest Mouse, Me Like Bees’ wickedly short four-song EP There Will Be Time is as quirky as it is passionate (the bouncy and lively opener “Changes” comes complete with horns plucked off of The Cure’s Wild Mood Swings album, the infectious “Tundraland” is the star of the EP thanks to catchy hooks and sunny vibes, the stripped-down title track offers up simple and harmonious bliss, truly danceable closer “Hymns and Blues” is one of the better songs The Killers never wrote). Producer John Feldmann’s (Panic at the Disco, 5 Seconds of Summer) skilled fingerprints can be felt up and down There Will Be Time, an EP that is a pure ray of sunshine on an otherwise cloudy day. Honestly though, it needs to be a crime that this There Will Be Time isn’t longer. Make sure you hit the repeat button.
