Words by Leo Cloeson
Edinburgh based trio Pirate Sons are an
eclectic group of musicians who surround themselves with an even more varied
group of creatives. This environment appears to have given birth to a strong
introduction to a solid sound – heavy rock with a light touch.
There’s a loose feel to their distortion
laden guitars and stomping drums which calls to mind The White Stripes – a relaxed
delivery that comes across as a band who genuinely enjoy what they’re doing.
And why not, when you’re turning out songs of this quality - particularly the
track “Foolish,” which opens with just drums before the rest of the band comes
in as a wall of sound.
Superb stuff, lovers of rock will lap the 233U EP up.
