Field Mouse

MP3: "How Do You Know" -

Field Mouse is a four-piece dream pop band from Brooklyn, NY. Seamlessly interweaving influences from shoegaze, indie, and power pop, Field Mouse offers lush sonic textures and expansive soundscapes to complement the airy, wistful vocals of singer/guitarist Rachel Browne. Through complex and delicate harmonies, the songwriting of Browne and guitarist Andrew Futral breathes new life into common themes of lost love and renewal.

Sweet Valley

MP3: Eternal Champ -

Following up on the success of last month's Stay Calm, Sweet Valley is at it again with a new mixtape, Eternal Champ, from Fool's Gold. The mixtape is available for free download at the Sweet Valley bandcamp.

MP3: "Choy Lin" -

FISHING are from that deep green inland sea just 38 nautical miles west of Sydney, known as The Blue Mountains. You can hear it in their music too. Deep, beat driven ocean-scapes that take you far away while keeping your feet firmly tapping something catchy. Songs aren't a problem for them either - in 2011 they had 4 releases, a total of 36 tracks as well as a tacklebox full of remixes.

MP3: "10 Years" -

Earlimart's System Preferences is a lush and lovely soundtrack for a sad, beautiful world. It's an album that touches on disillusionment with and acceptance of technology, complex relationships, and lost weekends. The Los Angeles-based duo of Aaron Espinoza and Ariana Murray retain tones and textures familiar to fans of the band's six previous albums of whispering and stomping indie rock, but they've grown as songwriters and producers.

Mac Demarco

MP3: "Freak Out the Neighborhood" -

Mac is back with his first proper full length, 2. As opposed to RNRNC, 2 is a concerted effort to produce a cohesive work that showcases Mac's natural ability as a songwriter, singer and producer. With a new arsenal of recording gear, the fidelity has substantially improved without compromising the immediacy and organic quality of his prior releases under any moniker.
