Free Music Friday! Zig Zags, Girls Names, Mac DeMarco, Generationals, The Twilight Sad
MP3: "Monster Wizard" b/w "Turbo Hit" - http://soundcloud.com/tubesteak-tuesday-records/sets/zig-zags-7
Following their sold out "Scavenger" 7", released earlier this year on Mexican Summer, and their recent collaboration with Iggy Pop for Light in the Attic, Zig Zags are back with "Monster Wizard" a droning riff combined with chanted vocals and a broken theramin. It tells the story of how all those road-tards and stone trolls got here in the first place. The B-side "Turbo Hit" takes you down a dark alley and then fucks you up and gets high.
MP3: "The New Life" - http://soundcloud.com/slumberland-records/girls-names-the-new-life
A new full length is currently being finished off but for now it seems Girls Names are intent on making a lasting impression with single "The New Life." It certainly feels as though the band is ready to enter a new phase in their existence and the way they've grown and honed their sound shows that they're not afraid to take risks.
MP3: "Ode to Viceroy" - http://soundcloud.com/capturedtracks/mac-demarco-ode-to-viceroy
In the midst of his current US tour, Mac DeMarco took time to share new single "Ode to Viceroy", a little ditty about his favorite brand of cigarettes. Check out the smoky tune above.
MP3: "Sale City" - http://soundcloud.com/forcefieldpr/generationals-sale-city-1
Generationals previously released the title track from their new EP, Lucky Numbers and now you can hear a new song, "Sale City," from the same EP. Their self-released EP is on store shelves now.
